VISTAMAR AND ITS UNFORGETTABLE 2021

Wines such as Corte de Campo as well as the Gran Reserva and Single Estate lines were the big winners this year.

Vistamar is a winery that considers the cycles and rhythms of nature, and it seems that in 2021, all of the work of understanding and respecting the vines returned great results. Many of its brands obtained excellent scores from specialized wine media from around the world, which clearly makes this year truly unforgettable.

Although still awaiting its official release, Enki, Vistamar’s new icon blend of Syrah, Petite Sirah, and Malbec received an incredible response to its 2019 vintage, which earned 94 points in the 2022 edition of the renowned Descorchados wine guide, where it was also listed among the Best from Cachapoal Andes. The 2018 Corte de Campo Andes red blend received 93 points from La CAV, while the 2019 vintage earned 91 points from Descorchados as well as from James Suckling, who praised its firm tannins and its polished, supple texture.

The 2019 Corte de Campo Coastal, composed of the Chardonnay and Viognier varieties, obtained 92 points from La CAV, 91 points from James Suckling, and a Silver Medal from The Drinks Business Global Master Chardonnay competition. The 2022 edition of the Descorchados guide gave the 2020 vintage 91 points.

Gran Reserva is another line with important scores in 2021. The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon received 93 points in Descorchados and 91 from James Suckling, whose tasting notes said it has “aromas of blackcurrants, cherries, blackberry leaf, and black licorice. It’s medium to full bodied with firm, fine tannins and fresh acidity. Silky and succulent with a fruity finish.”

The Gran Reserva line’s 2019 Carmenere from also stood out with 93 points in Descorchados and 91 points from Tim Atkin. The 2020 Chardonnay was recognized with 93 points in Descorchados, while James Suckling awarded 92 points for both the 2018 and 2019 vintages of the Cabernet Sauvignon/Syrah.

Suckling gave 91 points to the Estate Chardonnay and the Pinot Noir, both from the 2019 vintage.

The 2019 Reserva Merlot received 91 points and a Silver Medal in the Wine & Spirit Competition. And finally, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon obtained 91 points from the Chilean wine magazine La CAV.
