Daniela Salinas: The Renewal of Viña Vistamar

Today, Viña Vistamar is undergoing a significant transformation, spearheaded by Daniela Salinas, a passionate and talented winemaker who brings her experience, mastery, and style to the wines of this vineyard.

With a solid background as an agronomical engineer from the University of Chile, Daniela boasts extensive experience in the world of wine. From her early steps in the industry, she has demonstrated her skill and dedication. After working in renowned Chilean vineyards, she joined the Morandé Wine Group in 2012 as an assistant winemaker for Mancura, later overseeing the harvests at Zorzal Wines in Gualtallary, Argentina, collaborating closely with the prestigious Michelini brothers: Matías, Juan Pablo, and Gerardo.

Daniela’s experience and talent quickly made her stand out as one of the leading women in the industry, and the challenge of taking on the role of head winemaker at “House Casa del Vino” – Viña Morandé’s restaurant in the heart of the Casablanca Valley – soon followed. It was there that the first contemporary wines of the Adventure Line began to take shape, a project led by the renowned winemaker Pablo Morandé in the 1980s, finding the perfect place for revival alongside the winemaking team of Viña Morandé. In the Morandé Adventure line, known for its unique freedom, Daniela is in charge of Tirazis, a Casablanca Syrah marked by its great balance between acidity and tannins; and Despechado, a Pinot Noir also from the Casablanca Valley.

Additionally, independently, Daniela joined other winemakers in the Vino de los Siete project, launching the attractive sparkling wine Carapálida. Her versatility and creativity are also reflected in her role as head of the Pre-bottling area at Morandé Wine Group, where she has been ensuring efficiency and quality in the crucial winery process in Pelequén for several years.

However, the highlight of her career came in 2023 with her incorporation into Viña Vistamar, taking on the responsibility of crafting a new line of wines and leaving her distinctive mark. Her focus is on showcasing the freshness and particularities of different valleys, creating expressive, fresh, and vertical wines that capture the unique essence of the region.

Outside the world of wine, Daniela finds balance and enjoyment in nature, practicing yoga, dance, and exploring beauty by bicycle. Her love for travel intertwines with her passion for wine, finding in each destination a new opportunity to taste and appreciate local flavors.

Daniela Salinas’s arrival at Viña Vistamar marks an exciting and promising chapter in the history of this winery. With her unique experience, passion, and style, she is ready to lead a new era of innovation and oenological excellence, solidifying her position as a prominent figure in the wine industry in Chile.
